Shell Lubricants, the global market share leader in finished lubricants and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) under the aegis of the Energy Efficiency Council along with Godrej GBC, organised the 16th edition of ‘Energy Efficiency Summit’, international conference and exposition.

The three-day summit, held from August 30th to September 1, 2017 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), focused on energy saving solutions, trends, innovations, case studies, and success stories in energy efficiency across the Indian industry. As industry leaders, Shell and CII led the discussions on renewable energy generation, technologies and upgradation of performance for thermal power plants, pulp and paper sector and the sugar industry. The summit highlighted the importance of using energy efficient lubricants across factories and plants nationwide to result in savings.

The summit also felicitated companies for their excellent contribution in energy sector under the 18th national award for excellence in energy management 2017. To name a few, Bajaj Auto Limited, Waluj, Aurangabad (MH), Ambuja Cements Ltd. Unit and ACC Limited were awarded under the automobile, engineering and the cement categories respectively.

Mansi Tripathy, country head of Shell Lubricants India cluster said, “The lubricants industry holds key significance in the business operations of its allied industries and it is necessary for sectors to perceive the contribution of lubricants as an enabler of efficient macro operations. Sectors such as pulp and paper, thermal power and sugar are important for the economy. We are hence trying to create an ecosystem and dialogue with industry stakeholders to help them understand total cost of ownership and the connection between lubricants and energy efficiency. We are and will continue to be a trusted partner in their journey to achieve the same.”

Representing Shell lubricants at the event, Siva Kasturi, Asia Pacific Regional OEM manager shared his views on new technologies and trends in thermal power plants and opportunities in enhancing green energy in pulp and paper sector. Siva said, “It was incredible to see several eminent industry leaders having attended the event. Our effort is to create awareness on energy costs and that any contribution of an appropriate synthetic lubricant in energy efficiency can translate into major savings. In alignment with our global objectives - ‘Total cost of ownership’ and ‘Together Anything is Possible’ – both conceptualised to provide end-to-end solutions for customers and partners to help them meet business challenges. We understand that there is little awareness about the need for choosing a quality product for a specific machine and therefore we are working extensively in this domain. Through collaborations with industry organisations, we are reaching out to a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve efficiency across industries.”

Siva Kasturi also highlighted the relevance of technically advanced products and services like Shell lubricants that helps customers use less energy and improve machines’ performance.

Eminent stakeholders from renowned multi-business conglomerates including ITC, Siemens Ltd, TATA Power Company Ltd, Forbes Marshall, Environment Reliance Power Limited, Greenbank Group UK, India Uniper, among others, attended the summit and shared their insights.

Speaking at the summit, Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary (Energy), Telangana, said, “India is currently entering a high energy-intensive phase with a prime focus on economic development. Such a rapid transition demands unmitigated energy and environmental consciousness coupled with increased saving efforts more than ever. The state is in the forefront in leading the conversation about energy efficiency and working towards an empowered India.”
