TDK’s unveils SMD series range of first hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors

TDK Corporation, a leading Japanese electronics company, has launched its range of hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors with its new SMD series.

TDK’s new SMD series supplements the world's first axial hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors. These capacitors come in dimensions like 14*25 mm and 16*30 mm (d x l) are designed for rated voltages of 25v, 35v or 63v. Its capacitance values range from 390 to 2100 µF. Despite low weight and volume, these capacitors offer a high current capability for automotive power modules.

These components are available in 25v DC/ 330 µF and 35v DC / 270 µF versions, each with dimensions of 10*10.2 mm (d x l). These RoHS and AEC-Q200 compliant capacitors are designed for a maximum operating temperature of 125 degree celsius and have a long service life of at least 4000 hours.

Two electrical parameters in particular characterise the compact capacitors that they  have extremely low ESR value of ≤20 m? and the high ripple current capability of 2.8 ampere at 125 degree celsius and 100 kHz. These values have been made possible by the hybrid polymer technology.

Interestingly, in addition to automotive electronic control units, the capacitors with the ordering codes B40900B5337M000 (330 µF) and B40900B7277M000 (270 µF) can also be used in industrial applications.
