Salient features: the equipment is ideal for investigation of adequacy of high pressure gas cylinders and containers to withstand pressure within elastic limit of material of construction and strength of joints; the stretched volume of test piece under pressure can be evaluated with accuracy within limits of IS: 5844-1970 specification and Gas Cylinder Rules 1981; a reciprocating pump forces positive displacement of volume of fluid during pressure built up; it retains constant pressure for adequate time to facilitate observation of test parameters; the check valve accessibility is easy to inspect valve and valve seat; the pressure release valve is provided with a safety burst disc which gets punctured at undue pressure development; the pump unit is supported on a steel frame of adequate design which facilitates application of force to develop test pressure as required; and a removable ‘T’ shape bar provides stability of base against lever force.
