Innovations in carbide technology, coating design and chip-flow optimisation have enabled the development of a new generation of grades for steel turning applications. The combination of these technologies has resulted in the high-performance and cost-effective steel turning grades BCP05T, BCP15T, BCP25T, BCP35T and BCP40T.

The new Boehlerit steel turning grades deliver enhanced performance and process reliability throughout the turning operation. A newly developed combination of substrate and coating technologies significantly improves tool life.

The BCP05T, BCP15T and BCP25T grades are particularly suited to continuous cutting operations in steel, cast iron and stainless-steel materials. The tougher BCP35T and BCP40T grades have been specifically developed for turning applications involving interrupted cuts.

The newly developed BCP15T, BCP25T and BCP35T grades feature an innovative two-tone CVD coating concept designed to withstand demanding temperature loads and thermal cycling conditions while providing excellent wear detection capabilities.

The coating combines the proven MT-TiCN layer system, which effectively resists flank wear, with an ?-Al2O3 layer that protects the insert from excessive temperatures and reduces crater wear. Wear identification is further enhanced by a yellow TiN top layer on the flank surfaces.

The BCP05T, BCP15T and BCP25T grades are recommended for medium application ranges involving high cutting speeds, long engagement times and stable roughing operations. Meanwhile, BCP35T and BCP40T deliver strong results at medium cutting speeds, particularly in applications requiring enhanced toughness and process security.
