‘Quaker set new benchmarks in innovation’

How will you describe the journey of Quaker Chemical in India – as a whole, but more specific to metal working (MW) business?

In a journey that started in 1997, Quaker set new benchmarks in innovation and established itself as a truly global brand. The last 2 decades have been a glorious journey in India from being a foreign brand manufactured in India with state-of-the-art R&D centre. We have emerged as market leaders in rolling oil application and we are emerging as market leader in metal working fluids segment.

Which are the several milestones/achievements Quaker Chemical has achieved in India in last few years?

Historical milestones and a variety of achievements characterise Quaker’s journey. Throughout the decades, we have seen many first-time product launches, a steady flow of innovations, continuous expansions through organic growth and acquisitions.

Any breakthrough product technology that made a difference?

In Quaker the component of innovation is built on R&D. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) a part of the Ministry of Science & Technology have certified and granted recognition to Quaker’s in-house R&D units for promoting R&D activities having a state-of-the-art globally competitive green technology to establish user friendly products of high commercial potential that catalyse faster commercialisation of lab scale R&D.

Any plans for future expansion in India in the wake of the Make In India campaign and subsequent policy changes made by government?

In continuation of its India growth plans, Quaker India has acquired land and poised to set up a Greenfield manufacturing facility with an installed capacity of 10,000 MT/annum in Gujarat. The proposed manufacturing facility will adopt industry best practices proven at Quaker affiliates worldwide in terms of stringent process control and efficient production processes, it would also be equipped to handle the diverse product profile and attempts zero defects and an enhanced degree of repeatability and reproducibility.
