It is the right time to deepen India’s trade relation with Bangladesh

Bangladesh has shown strong economic progress in the last decade with India emerging as the second largest supplier of engineering products to Bangladesh. According to Ravi Sehgal, Chairman, EEPC India, INDEE Bangladesh 2020 will surely help the Indian exporters to generate substantial businesses from Bangladesh.

How is EEPC playing its role in boosting India-Bangladesh trade tie-ups?

INDEE is an engineering expositions organised exclusively by EEPC India since 1977 to create increased awareness on India’s rapid progress in the engineering sector. Till date, we have organised 41 INDEEs across the world and Bangladesh is one of the very few nations that has been selected for the second time and that also within a gap of only two years. This necessarily speaks for our focus on Bangladesh as a potential trade and investment partner. In 2017, over 100 Indian exhibitors from engineering and allied sectors displayed their products before over 3,000 business and trade visitors mostly from Bangladesh. We also invite a large number of delegates from Bangladesh in our signature show IESS that generates substantial businesses for Indian exporters every year. Besides, we also organise Buyer-Seller meets and B2B meets time to time in order to connect major buyers of Bangladesh with existing or aspiring engineering exporters to Bangladesh.

What is the rationale of organising INDEE Bangladesh 2020?

I have already mentioned why Bangladesh has been selected for our INDEE 2020. As Bangladesh has shown reasonable economic progress in the last decade or so, the market therein has widened enough. Therefore, it is the right time to deepen our trade and investment relation with this neighbour country with more footprints of Indian businesses than before.

What are the advantages offered by INDEE Bangladesh to participants?

EEPC India is organising this event under the MAI Scheme of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The participation charges are subsidised for the benefit of the members. In addition, participants will be facilitated with extensive publicity and promotion of the event through on site branding, social media and newspaper advertisements. They will also get the opportunity to be tied up with leading industry chambers and associations of Bangladesh and will meet focus business visitors during the show that will surely enhance their businesses.

What are the highlights of INDEE Bangladesh 2020?

The show will reinforce India’s commitment towards deepening of trade and economic relations with Bangladesh to a significant extent. Major Indian Government ministries and departments, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the engineering, steel, railway and power sectors will participate in the show. The event will have a special focus upon promotion of MSMEs & SMEs participation through incentives. Organising business to business meetings and seminars with special focus for vendor & trader appointment is one of the major attractions of the event.

This event will cover all segments of engineering like the previous INDEEs. Segments like automobile and auto components, industrial machinery, electrical machinery, iron and steel products, renewable energy equipment, medical devices, project engineering, among others will mostly comprise the product profile for the event.

Would you like to give any message to the Indian manufacturers and exporters?

India at present is the second largest supplier of engineering products to Bangladesh after China. When an economy grows steadily over a long period of time with key role being played by the private sector, it brings immense business as well as export opportunities especially for its neighbours like India which is the leading economy in the south Asian region. Therefore, this INDEE will surely be one of the biggest platform for the Indian exporters to ensure generation of substantial businesses from Bangladesh as its richest neighbour and the second largest suppliers of engineering products.
