T?V Rheinland to offer HSPM programme for Electrical & Electronic Equipment Industry


Successfully completes a Comprehensive Programme for 'Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM)', a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme jointly funded by DEG Germany and T?? Rheinland India

Bangalore based T?? Rheinland India, a worldwide leader in Testing, Inspection, Certification & Training, announced that it has successfully completed a comprehensive programme for 'Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM)' that it had initiated in February 2011. HSPM programme was initiated as a unique public private partnership (PPP) programme by TUV Rheinland India, as a part of its ongoing CSR activities, jointly funded by DEG Germany.

The project was aimed to enable Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) component and product manufacturing companies operating in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, implement global best practices for Hazardous substance process management, and comply with Global Environmental Regulations. T?? Rheinland has also provided effective hazardous substance process management procedures and best practices as a part of the programme.

This announcement was made at the "Best Practice Exchange Forum" conducted by T?? Rheinland at Bangalore, which was attended by senior industry experts and also heads of the companies who had participated in the HSPM programme.

As a part of this programme, T?? Rheinland had selected 10 SMEs from the EEE industry to consult and certify them with international standards such as ISO 9001 & IECQ HSPM QC 080000, EU RoHS, REACH, WEEE and India specific Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). The objective of the project was to bring about the much needed shift towards a more sustainable means of development by reducing Hazardous Substance in raw material selection and manufacturing process in all the EEE SMEs that participated in the programme.

"This is a first of its kind programme launched in India. With the experience gained by us from this programme, T?? Rheinland is all set to commercially offer this programme to individual EEE component and product manufacturing companies in India." said Mr Enrico Ruhle, Managing Director of T?? Rheinland India. "With our programme, companies would be able to successfully address issues relating to awareness, involvement and implementation to bring about the much needed shift towards more sustainable means of development by reducing hazardous substance in raw material selection and manufacturing."

To ensure the sustainalibity, T?? Rheinland would offer complete Hazardous Substance testing solutions on all regulations related to this like RoHS, REACH, WEEE, ELV and Packaging directive. T?? Rheinland has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration of Laboratories (NABL) to test for all the hazardous substances as per the regulation. The company will also offer a thorough study on the stages of whisker process, with the help of high end equipment like Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Environmental chambers like Humidity chamber, Thermal Cyclic, Thermal shock, Salt spray chamber and dry heat to name a few.
