The Building Technologies Division of Siemens Ltd will implement comprehensive integrated security solutions at the prestigious Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) Complex in Mumbai. BDB is the world's largest diamond exchange based in Mumbai, India. The complex is designed to house around 2,500 small and large diamond traders in addition to a customs house, banks and other service providers who cater to the gem and jewellery sector. Siemens, one of the most-trusted global security solutions providers, will deliver cutting-edge, integrated security based systems to safeguard the entire 20 acre complex.

Siemens, in close cooperation with BDB steering committee and their consultant M/s John Mech - EL l, devised a comprehensive state-of-the-art security system for the entire complex; drawing upon the in-depth knowledge and experience of the global team. The complete system is scheduled to be operational by November 2012.

Speaking on this project, Mr Anoop Mehta, Chairman, BDB steering committee, said, "Siemens security solution will provide a comprehensive view of the entire complex. We have chosen to partner with Siemens, based on the exceptional capabilities demonstrated with their global technologies. We are confident that the Siemens solutions will strengthen our security team and create safe and secure business environment."

With total constructed area of over 3 million sq.ft, the complex has an inflow of more than 20,000-30,000 people daily. BDB will put into operation Siemens security management platforms that integrate and control CCTV, alarms, access control and perimeter protection. The security personnel can be prompted to take corrective action and the software can automatically set in motion a sequence of pre-agreed activities to ensure adherence to right procedures as well as distributing essential information across multiple agencies. In addition, system logs and records of all actions enable auditing of every activity.
