Gradiant is expanding its India operations with five new design-build contracts across semiconductor, printed circuit board and solar manufacturing, alongside a leadership appointment and plans to grow its local workforce by more than 40 per cent this year.

The water technology company has appointed Hari Prasad as Managing Director, India, to lead its growth across semiconductors, data centres and energy. Prasad brings nearly 30 years of experience in water technology and most recently served as General Manager, Industrial Water at Pentair, following senior roles across India, the Middle East and Africa.

The latest contracts cover semiconductor, electronics and clean energy manufacturing and include a repeat order from a global chipmaker expanding its fabrication facility.

Under the agreements, Gradiant will provide ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge systems. The company said customers selected its solutions for high water recovery, reliable ZLD performance and execution capabilities.

To support the new projects, Gradiant is expanding its workforce across engineering, project execution, operations and digital roles. The expansion includes its Gradiant Engineering Center in Coimbatore, which supports projects in India and international markets.

“India is fast becoming one of the most important places to build the AI supply chain, from chips to circuit boards to solar cells. When a chipmaker comes back to us for its next expansion, that is the strongest endorsement we can get. With Hari’s leadership and an engineering team in India that serves customers here and around the world, we are well placed to be the single accountable water partner for that build-out,” said Prakash Govindan, CEO of Gradiant.

The expansion comes as India increases investment in semiconductor, electronics and clean energy manufacturing, sectors where dependable water supply, wastewater treatment and discharge compliance are becoming increasingly important to production capacity.

Gradiant designs, builds and operates water and wastewater infrastructure for sectors including semiconductors, data centres, energy and other industrial applications.

“Our orders in India are on track to more than double this year, with revenue set to more than triple,” said Hari Prasad, Managing Director, Gradiant India. “A fab or a solar plant can’t run a single shift without water, and the ZLD rules here leave no room for shortcuts. That is exactly where Gradiant wins, and with the pipeline in front of us, we need more engineers to keep up.”

Founded at MIT and headquartered in Boston, Gradiant develops water and wastewater infrastructure for industrial applications. Its technologies are designed to reduce freshwater withdrawals, increase wastewater recovery and enable water reuse.

The company has built more than 3,000 treatment plants across 92 countries and is positioning its India operations to support growing demand from semiconductor, data centre, electronics, energy and advanced manufacturing projects.
