E-Procurement by Indian Railways

Indian Railways E-Procurement System (www.ireps.gov.in) is an official website of Indian Railways for procurement of materials. Railway users can upload their tender documents and can open tenders online. Registered Vendors can access the tender documents through this site and submit their bids online duly encrypted at client machine itself. Authorised Vendors can view tabulations online. They have been provided the facility for SMS alerts/email alerts for important events.

Vendor Users can pay the Tender Document Cost (TDC) and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) by Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Net Banking through SBIePay. SBIePay is the payment gateway, which is integrated with the IREPS for online payments.

Shri Suresh Prabhu inaugurated and launched the Works Module of Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS) and implementation of ‘e-Tendering in Works Contracts’

This portal will enable railways to implement e-governance in Works Contract with facilities like creation and publication of tenders online, enable tenderers to view tenders, submit their requisite amount and bid offers online.

This new portal is expected to lead to reduction in hassles related to tendering process, saving in cost and time, increase in ease of working, increase in efficiency, increase in competition, reduction in complaint related to tendering and easy access to information.

At present, Indian Railways deals with approximately 25,000 tenders involving an expenditure of above Rs 35,000 crore for maintenance/upgradation of existing assets and creation of new assets for huge railway network of about 66,000 route kilometres, which is handled manually. This portal will enable railways to implement e-governance in Works Contract with facilities like creation and publication of tenders online, enable tenderers to view tenders, submit their requisite amount and bid offers online. It will also facilitate instant online creation of comparative chart and briefing note. This new portal will lead to reduction in hassles related to tendering process, saving in cost and time, increase in ease of working, increase in efficiency, increase in competition, reduction in complaint related to tendering and easy access to information.
