Pune, 11 August 2016: As part of its university engagement initiative specifically conceptualised to develop India’s talent pool for manufacturing, Danfoss, India, a Danish company, which engineers technologies for a better tomorrow, has established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at College of Engineering, to enable students and teachers to get hands-on experience of energy efficient technologies prevalent in the industry.

Danfoss Centre of Excellence will help students gain knowledge and acquire technical hands on experience on Danfoss products such as scroll compressor, stop valves, shut off valves, filter driers, reciprocating compressors, solenoid valves, automatic controls, plate heat exchanger, electronic controllers and industrial refrigeration controls for hand on experience. These products will also be available for students to experiment with in the lab.

Student innovators from College of Engineering, Pune, who developed a unique pollution free energy efficient mist cooling system without use of pump, were also recognised during the launch.

Emphasising on the need to ignite innovation in young aspiring minds, Mr Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, “We are glad that our university engagement initiatives are yielding positive results. Triggering students to consider energy efficiency as the first fuel for a better economy and growth is our prime objective and we are pleased that our objectives are being actioned by these young innovators. Universities are the best places to foster innovation and it is important that all stakeholders including academia, government organisations and industry leaders come together to encourage and support students for a better tomorrow.”

“This partnership has given our students and faculty tremendous support in terms of knowledge transfer and hands on training. The Center of Excellence will give our students the much needed industry exposure and knowledge of latest technology. Committed to developing innovative and sustainable solutions, our students, supported by industrial expertise from Danfoss, have developed a unique mist cooling system that is not only energy efficient but also pollution free. This is indeed a proud moment for us.” said Dr B B Ahuja, Director, College of Engineering, Pune.
