CPSE Capital Expenditure hits 52% of budget target in H1 FY 2023-24

In the first half of the current fiscal year, central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) have reached approximately 52% of the Budget target for capital expenditure, amounting to Rs 3.79 trillion, according to the finance ministry's announcement. This surpasses the capital expenditure by CPSEs during the same April-September period in the previous fiscal year, which was Rs 2.85 lakh crore, constituting 43% of the Budget estimates for the 2022-23 fiscal.

The finance ministry shared the update on X, stating, "Capital Expenditure #CAPEX targets by Central Public Sector Enterprises #CPSEs on track with 51.71% of target achieved till September 2023." As of September 30, 2023, the achieved expenditure is approximately 51.71% of the estimated full-year expenditure of Rs 7.33 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2023-24. The ministry highlighted that against the projected full-year capital expenditure of Rs 6.62 lakh crore in the 2022-23 fiscal, CPSEs have already achieved Rs 3.79 lakh crore, representing about 51.71% progress.
