DSIT receives an order for 78 PointShieldâ„¢ portable diver detection sonars

DSIT Solutions Ltd. announced today that it has signed a contract with Tata Power SED to jointly supply 78 PointShield™ Portable Diver Detection Sonar (PDDS) units to the Indian Navy. The order is considered to be the largest ever in the field of underwater security systems.

The PointShield™ systems are to be supplied to the Indian Navy under special procurement program called 'Buy Make India'. Under this program, some of the diver detection sonars will be delivered by DSIT directly while the rest will be manufactured by Tata Power SED in India with DSIT's supervision and support. The Indian Ministry of Defense selected DSIT and Tata Power SED after a tender process, in which all international diver detection sonar manufacturers, as well as large Indian companies, participated. The process included rigorous sea trials, technical evaluation and commercial bidding.

Dan Ben Dov, DSIT'S Vice President for Sales and Marketing, commented, "This significant order strengthens DSIT's position as the market leader in the field of underwater security. It shows the growing concern among navies, coastguards and other organisations, seeking to protect their coastal and offshore critical sites and vessels from underwater intrusion and sabotage. With our AquaShield™ long range Diver Detection Sonar (DDS) and PointShield™ Portable DDS, we are ready to answer the market needs."

DSIT's AquaShield™ and PointShield™ underwater security systems are used by many customers worldwide. Both systems have been operational for many years and support automatic detection, tracking and classification of all types of underwater threats.

Benny Sela, CEO of DSIT, remarked, "We see this order as an important vote of confidence in our superior technology by the Indian Navy choosing us to protect their fleet against underwater threats. We look forward to work closely with Tata Power SED and deliver to the Indian Navy high quality and performance systems. We look at this project as an opportunity to launch a long and fruitful cooperation between the companies for the benefit of our joint customer."
