The Tool and Gauge Manufacturers Association of India (TAGMA India) concluded its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30 September 2026, bringing together association members from across India. The meeting also marked the election of its Executive Council for the 2026–2029 term.

The Council members were elected unopposed as the number of nominations matched the available seats. Representing the South region are D. Shanmugasundaram, Managing Director, S & T Engineers (P) Ltd; D. Ravi, Managing Director, Clastek Engineering Limited; Gopalakrishnan T. S., Director, Multiple Special Steel Pvt. Ltd.; and Raj Singh, Director, EQIC Dies & Moulds Engineers Pvt. Ltd.

The West region representatives are Akshay Kalyanpur, Director, Sridevi Tool Engineers Pvt. Ltd.; Devaraya Manjunath Sheregar, Managing Director, Devu Tools Pvt. Ltd.; and Arvind Chawla, Director, Mutual Engineering Private Limited. A. K. Dutta, Partner, Dutta & Dasgupta, and Sandeep Jain, Director, Sandeep Edgetech Limited, represent the North/East region.

At its first meeting following the AGM, the newly elected Council unanimously elected Sheregar as President of TAGMA India. Shanmugasundaram was elected Vice President.

Sheregar said, “I believe the next few years can be very important for Indian tooling. India is seeing strong manufacturing growth. Investment is increasing. Exports are growing. New sectors such as aerospace, defence, electronics, medical devices, renewable energy and advanced automotive are creating new requirements. But these sectors will also demand a different level of capability.”

He added, “So, my message to our members today is simple. Let us not look at growth only as an increase in orders. Let us look at growth as an opportunity to upgrade our businesses. Invest in technology. Develop people. Improve processes. Build engineering capability. Understand your customers better. Look beyond India. And most importantly, work together as an industry.”

Shanmugasundaram said, “TAGMA’s AGM is an opportunity not only to look at the past year but also to discuss where the industry is heading and how we can prepare for the next phase of growth. We plan to take members on business and educational delegations to different countries, giving them exposure to international manufacturing practices, toolrooms, factories, educational institutions, customers and technology companies. This will help Indian toolmakers benchmark themselves, identify areas for improvement and explore international markets.”

He added, “Our next major platform is the 10th edition of International Tooling Summit 2026, to be held on 17–18 November at The Leela Ambience, Gurugram. I encourage members to participate actively. We are also looking ahead to Die & Mould India 2028, with the objective of making it bigger, better and more international, while strengthening it as a business platform connecting toolmakers, customers, international companies and technology providers.”

The Council begins its three-year term as the Indian tooling industry sees opportunities arising from new technology adoption, growing export demand and the continued focus on strengthening manufacturing in India.

During the term, TAGMA will work to strengthen the tooling industry, bring members closer together and give the industry a stronger voice in domestic and international markets. The leadership will advance the association’s plans and initiatives, working with members and stakeholders to address emerging opportunities and evolving industry requirements.

TAGMA thanked the outgoing Executive Council for its time, efforts and dedication. It congratulated Sheregar, Shanmugasundaram and the newly elected Council members, wishing them success over the next three years.
