Delco Fans Pvt Ltd is engaged in the manufacturing of fractional horsepower (FHP) electric motors, geared electric motors, centrifugal blowers and industrial fans. With the help of state-of-the-art equipment, each product of Delco passes through extensive & effective quality control. In this interview, Anand Vaishampayan, Director, Delco Fans Pvt Ltd, explains the growth prospects of the industry and how his company is gearing up for the same.

Could you please brief us about your company's business?
Delco Fans Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer of fractional horsepower (FHP) electric motors, geared motors, cooling fans and centrifugal blowers since last 50 years. We are expert in manufacturing custom build motors that is exactly as per customer’s specific requirement. Our products are mainly used in diamond cutting & polishing machines, blood bank equipment, laboratory equipment, analytical equipment, food processing machines, refrigeration industry, panel coolers, actuators, oil skimmers, gas chromatograph, industrial microwave heating systems, plastic moulding machines, ultrasonic cleaning equipment, X-ray machines, office equipment and many more.

What kinds of motors do you offer to your customers? Which types of motors are more in demand?
We are mainly in to FHP motors. Our maximum manufacturing range is up to 0.25 HP in single-phase and in three-phase. To fulfil clients specific requirement is our main scope of work. In large size motors, there are many giant groups and we have therefore concentrated only on small size motors which has got ample demand in the industry.

How is the market for motors in India? Which end-user industries are driving demands for motors in India?
Looking at the huge population in the country, equipment and machines in large quantities are naturally required. At the very same time, Indian machine manufacturers have got tremendous export demand, as a result we are receiving recurring orders from our clients spread almost all over the country. Being a custom build motor manufacturer, our efforts in R&D is continuous.

It is very difficult to underline particular end-user industry who is driving the demand for motors in India because all types of industries require huge quantity of FHP as well as custom-built motors.

What kinds of trends are you seeing in the industry?
Electric motor manufacturing market is a never ending market, primarily because it is a prime mover of all the machines and equipment. We, therefore, forecast tremendous scope for this industry.

Is your company offering solutions for making factories smart & intelligent?
Our continuous efforts to manufacture efficient and cost-effective products definitely motivate our customers for making their product intelligent.

How do you intend to tap the emerging opportunities in segments like industrial, aerospace, machine building, etc?
Our efforts in marketing our products all over the country and abroad in almost all the fields of industry and tap opportunities wherever our product can be of useful in machine building including aerospace. We understand few of our clients are supplying to aerospace wherein our products are being used.

What are your growth plans for the company?
We continuously look forward to grow. Looking at the overall scope in the engineering field, we have a bright chance to double our capacity in the near future. This year, we have already achieved an increment of 20 per cent. Looking at the present trend of business, it so happens that many products become obsolete and new products take their place and our R&D efforts satisfy our clients need. As regards diversification, there is a tremendous scope for different kinds of electric motors. Initially, we thought of selling those motors (which we do not make) and we plan to introduce the same in near future.
