Locking ring assemblies allow repositioning a component on a shaft to adjust alignment, synchronizing positions of different components, or for timing functioning. The assembly avoids backlash that is sometimes encountered with keyed connections. In addition, overall cost is often less because keyways, threads, and close tolerances are not required. These locking ring assemblies allow generous tolerances on shafts and hubs.
