Prism Gas Detection, an ISO 9001: 2000 certified company, has introduced for the first time CE and ATEX approved, latest ‘master of all trades’ gas Sensor + Transmitter, Model TU 1000, with unmatched features. This series consists of intelligent transmitters, which have been designed to detect the presence of either flammable vapours (% LEL) or toxic vapours (ppm) and for oxygen, its enrichment or depletion. TU 1000 transmitter can provide 4-20 mA analog output and/or digital RS485 output. Thus it can be interfaced with any standard process indicator or PLC/DCS without worrying about interfaces. The industrial grade catalytic sensor (Pellistor) employed to detect flammable gases shows excellent output linearity up to 100 % LEL as well as superior repeatability and durability. Instruments to be employed in aggressive atmosphere, where the traditional Pellistor cells would be irreparably damaged, come complete with infrared sensors. Infrared sensors are poison free thus granting a higher accuracy and a longer lifetime to the cell. For toxic gases, TU 1000 comes with extremely reliable electrochemical cells to supply stable and virtually maintenance free units. This is a smart ‘Plug & Play’ system and this can be calibrated via PC by using Windows-based calibration software or via handheld calibration keypad. Transmitter can be calibrated using non-intrusive magnetic calibration via Hall-effect switches for an accurate and easy calibration without opening the instrument and declassifying the area. Calibration software allows modifying alarm thresholds, measuring range, zero span setting, etc. The unit has a large transparent front window with a 4-digit backlit display and 5-mode status LEDs provide ongoing gas concentration reading and channel status. The transmitter in addition to signal conversion to 4-20 mA or RS485 has all the other circuits to make this a complete gas monitoring system.
