DeeKay Gears manufactures spiral bevel gears for industrial applications. These gears are manufactured/generated as per the constant tooth depth system, as also as per parallel tooth depth system. Bevel gears are used to connect shafts which intersect usually but not necessarily at 90°. The teeth on a bevel gear are subjected to much the same action as spur gear teeth. Bevel gears are not interchangeable and in consequence are designed in pairs. Spiral bevel gears are used when greater torque strength is required and where gears are being run at high speeds. Smoother tooth engagement, quietness of operation and greater strength are the main characteristics of these gears. In some cases they are used to reduce the overall design thus reduce costs and volume. These gears are used especially where high levels efficiency is required as spiral bevel gears are very efficient producing levels up to 97 to 99%. These gear sets are mainly made from premium case hardened material and then carburised to achieve a corresponding case depth. Spiral gears are always manufactured in pairs to assure proper mounting distance and then lapped in pairs to ensure proper wearing in and to accommodate the proper contact pattern. These gears are to straight bevel gears as helical gears are to straight tooth spur gears; they have the same advantages as helical gear - smoother tooth engagement, quietness of operation, greater strength and higher permissible speeds.
