Energy Chain System For Material Handling Products

Igus has now unveiled a complete solution for applications in materials-handling technology, especially aisle stackers, and in the field of automation. For the first time, the company is offering its own data conversion systems for industrial use, developed for high data rates and very long cable lengths. The system consists of four complementary parts: a self-guiding energy chain in a compact guiding duct, a specially developed flat cable for power transmission, a glass fibre optic cable for data transmission and an industrial copper FOC coupler as an electronic converter, which customers can connect to the machine as a decentralized component. The Micro Flizz® system offers a real alternative to high-maintenance bus bars. The engineered system, such as an E-Chain®, is guided in a low contact guiding trough and the newly developed CF.FLAT power cables. Small bending radii even for large cross sections up to 50 mm² can be realised. New fibre optic cables, in combination with the all-new igus® copper FOC coupler allows for data transmission rates that could not be realised with infrared nor radio control. As a result, even Ethernet connections can safely be realised for very long travels, offering entirely new possibilities for automated storage and retrieval systems.
