Malik Engineers manufacture Single screw Cooker Extruders suitable for extruding Pellets from wheat, potato or corn. The line consists of a Ribbon Blender for dry mixing of all ingredients like wheat, starch, vitamins, salt, etc. After mixing it is conveyed by means of screw conveyors to Pre conditioner chamber which consists of single rotating agitator shaft fitted with mixing paddles, and has arrangement for water injection continuously via the dosing pump in required proportion and the material then falls inside single screw cooker extruder, which cooks the material due to the action fo rotating screw and stationery barrel. The material is cooked by mechanical shear as well as heat supplied by heaters wrapped around the temperature controlled barrel. The cooked dough is extrudes out of cooker extruder in form of continuous ribbon and is chopped by stationery blades fitted at the end of the barrel. The hot dough is cooled down to around 90-100 degrees C as it passes through the Former and exits through the suitably shaped pellet die. The continuously cut pellets are pneumatically transferred to the driers which further removes extra moisture present in the pellet.

Three dimensional pellets, commonly called as 3D pellets, can be produced on the same plant with some changes in the die head and using specially designed Radial Cutters. The Single screw Cooker Extruder is available in screw sizes of 50mm, 65mm, 75mm, 100mm to give throughput rates of 25 Kgs, 50 Kgs, 80 Kgs, 120 Kgs/hour respectively. Special model with screw dia. Of 160mm provides up to 800 Kgs/hour output of pellet product. The Twin screw version of Extruder is also available which has set of twin screws rotating inside a single barrel. The advantage is, that, the screws and barrel of Twin screw Extruder (TSE) are made in segments (modular), unlike the single screw extruder where the construction is solid. The modular construction makes the TSE versatile because the screw geometry and process length can be easily changed as per requirements. The TSE also gives approximately 2.5 times throughputs than that attainable from single screw extruder of equivalent size.
