Grinding Wheels

Simat of Italy specialises in the manufacture of grinding wheels for internal, external, cylindrical or surface grinding. These are produced from select raw materials, and are available in a variety of compositions. Apart from using aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, or cubic boron nitride (CBN), another wonder material offered is Cubitron (patented). Cubitron has the composition of aluminium oxide but the rupture characteristics of CBN. So the requirement of dressing of the grinding wheel is less frequent, thereby resulting in higher productivity and less consumption of the diamond for its dressing, the wheel speed being the same. The applications of these wheels are many. They include FI nozzles, ball bearings, steel strips, engine valves, gears, taps, thread gauges and engine components of automobiles. The wheels are available also in ceramic bond as well as in resinoid bond. These are produced also for centreless grinders, as grinding or regulating wheels, as well as duly shaped wheels for the grinding of threads or of gear-flanks. The grit size is available up to 600. Also available are sandwich-type external grinding wheels, as well as small dia internal grinding wheels mounted on mandrels. Wheel segments for surface grinding are available with inserted nuts.
