Extech Instruments Corporation, USA, have introduced a new hand-held multiscope. This combines a 100 kHZ graphical storage oscilloscope with a true RMS multimeter. Unique facilities include: built-in RS-232 interface with optional software; help screens include connection diagrams and safety precautions; trigger level adjustment captures a waveform the technician wishes to see; temperature measurement (with optional adaptor); and up to15 waveforms can be stored for later analysis. Maintenance personnel will value this multiscope as a visual DMM. They will find it easier to observe noise and distortion by looking of the waveform rather than numbers when measuring voltage or current. Process engineers will like to detect the amplitude and frequency of noise and glitches while measuring 4-20 MA process loops, with this oscilloscope. Test technicians will appreciate the square wave (TTL level) generator for general trouble shooting and testing.
