Though apparently simple, key transmission is one of the more difficult machining operations and increases the cost due to various operations involved in preparing key-ways: setting & down time + machining time, lateral shifting of key-ways in process. Also it is extremely difficult to set the center-line of the key-way exactly symmetrical and parallel to the radial plane. Heavy torsional stresses are concentrated at the corner of the key-way and so shaft is weakened. Deviation in width, parallelism to the axis, inaccuracy in key, is also affected.

The cumulative effect of all the above operational errors calls for an alternative system – Power Transmission by Key-less arrangement.

The elements are used for connection of gearwheels, chain sprockets, levers, cams, cam plates, belt pulleys, brake drums, flywheels, couplings and clutches, shaft-mounted gearing, flanges, track wheels, impellers, etc. and are giving every satisfaction these and countless other applications.

• N7012 - for highly stressed connections & wide machinery tolerances having range from 20mm and above & torque from 270Nm and above
• N7013 - for higher concentricity where required. Transmission torque limit is higher than N7012.
• N7030-31, 7032-33
• N7014 - Similar to N7012 but higher torque limit than N7012 & N7013, range from shaft diameter 60mm & above
• N7015-Self centering but lower torque limit than N7014, range from shaft 90mm and above
• N7016
• N8006 - Used where boss diameter is limited. Range from shaft diameter 5mm and above, for lowest torque transmission.
• N250 - Used for self-centering. Range from shaft 10 to 100 mm. Torque transmission from 48Nm to 15010Nm.
• N4071- Standard model. Range from 20mm shaft diameter and above
• N4051- Light duty model. Range from 100 mm shaft diameter and above
• N4091- Heavy duty model. Range from 100 mm shaft diameter and above.
• NS4051, 4071 &4091 - split Type models.

If higher functional value is needed, it can be obtained by adding number of elements (i.e 1 + 1)
