The rotary drive of an electric motor or other such device in the input can be coupled and transmitted through the clutch to the output shaft, pulley, sprocket, etc. A brake can be used to stop position or hold a rotating load. The electromagnetic clutch brake combination unit comprises of an electromagnetic clutch and brake and can be used for continuous start-stop function in any drive transmission arrangement. It is available in open type and in factory fitted and aligned enclosed type within an aluminium cast housing. All the above function, when energised by applying DC voltage to it, and are fast and immediate in operation. A push pull solenoid is DC operated and when a DC voltage is applied to the solenoid the plunger is attracted inside the coil body. Thus anything, which is attached to the end of the plunger, gets pulled or pushed as the application demands. In case of fail-safe brakes, these are normally On type that is the brake is always On and applied. When a DC voltage is applied to it the brake releases, thus allowing the shaft on which it is mounted to rotate. In case of no voltage, the brake is applied immediately and the rotating shaft on which the brake is mounted is held immediately. This also forms a safety mechanism in which the load is stopped from being moved in case of no power.
